Fiware Foundation

The FIWARE Foundation is the legal independent body providing shared resources to help achieving the FIWARE mission that is to develop an open sustainable ecosystem around the FIWARE open source platform, created to drive the definition of public, royalty-free and implementation-driven software platform standards that ease the creation of Smart Applications in multiple sectors. Main responsibilities of the FIWARE Foundation are to protect, promote and manage the FIWARE brand and to bring support to the activities of the FIWARE Community that is engaged in the evolution and adoption of the FIWARE platform. The FIWARE Community comprises all individuals and organizations members of the FIWARE Foundation and actively contributing in achieving the FIWARE Mission. Therefore, it is not only formed by developers and adopters of the technology, but also by those who contribute in building the FIWARE ecosystem and making it sustainable over time. FIWARE Foundation is open, anybody can join as member, contribute to the FIWARE Mission and rise through the ranks of the Community based on merit.

Role

According to its mission, the FIWARE Foundation, will lead the activities targeted to the augmentation of the FIWARE Platform by incorporating AI processing capabilities based on the AML Interaction Platform, together with open source tools for experimentation. In addition, FIWARE Foundation will co-lead the dissemination activities as it has a deep experience in organizing events (FIWARE Summit) and leading collective dissemination efforts in top trade fairs (Smart City Expo, IoTSWC, Hannover-Messe, etc.)
